Sushi

This mostly comes down to how you prepare the rice. The fish and other stuff is secondary. This is a cheap way to eat a lot of sushi.

If you make this with your friends it becomes a social event and it will go much faster. Once we made a double batch and had a hard time finishing it all.

Total preparation time is 30min with help or 1 hour

  • Preparing ingredients - 10min
  • Preparing wraps - 30min
  • Cutting wraps - 10min

Ingredients

Sushi rice:

  • Rice - 2 cups
  • Water - 2 1/2 cups
  • Vinegar - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon (5ml)
  • Sugar - 4 tablespoons (60ml)
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)

Wrap:

  • Nori sheets
  • Fish or whatever - cooked or raw
  • Carrots
  • Cucumber
  • Avocado

Served with:

  • Soy sauce
  • Wasabi
  • Pickled ginger

Method

  1. Wash the rice and cover with 2 1/2 cups water
  2. Cook at high pressure in instantpot for 4min (let sit at pressure for 20min)
  3. Mix vinegar, salt, sugar, oil with hot rice until sticky
  4. Put a line of rice on the nori
  5. Put a line of fish, carrots, cucumber, and avocado on rice
  6. Roll into cylinder and glue sides together with water
  7. Cut with a wet knife into sushi bites.
