Kombucha

I made a lot of kombucha until I decided it was too much caffeine and I threw my scoby out. I kind of want to try again with decaffeinated black tea.

It took me two tries before I found a kombucha for sale that was alive enough to spark my own culture.

Total preparation time is 70min

  • Boiling water - 30min
  • Cooling - 30min
  • Adding ingredients - 1min

Ingredients

  • Kombucha - store bought live culture
  • Water - 4-5 quarts (4.5L)
  • Black tea bags - 7
  • Sugar - 1 cup

Method

  1. Boil water with sugar and steep teabags for 3 min
  2. Let cool
  3. Add to scoby or the live kombucha culture
  4. Let sit on counter to ferment
