Instant Pot Yogurt

I had to stop making this because I was eating too much. You need a little live-culture yogurt to get it started but you can make the next batch with the dregs of the last one.

This is for making yogurt in an instantpot with a yogurt setting


Total Preparation Time

Total preparation time is 9 hours

  • Boiling milk - 30min
  • Chilling - 30min
  • Brewing - 8 hours

Ingredients

  • Milk - 1/2 - 1 gallon (2L-4L)
  • A bit of live yogurt
  • Instantpot with a yogurt setting
  • Digital thermometer

Method

  1. Put a spoonful of live yogurt in a glass with some of the milk and leave it on counter
  2. Put your yogurt in the instantpot and press the yogurt button until it shows high (this will take it to 183F (84C) to sterilize it.
  3. When the instantpot beeps, remove it, and put the covered pot in a cold water bath until it reaches 115F (46C)
  4. Put the pot back in the instantpot, add the milk and yogurt culture, and press the yogurt button until it shows 8 hours
  5. Open the instant pot occasionally and wipe up the water that condenses on the lid (because the final result is better when it isn't so wet).
